'A tiger in my living room' takes over the UMA cultural container

Ana Jiménez

During the morning of Thursday, November 25, the cultural container was dyed purple to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.About eight of that afternoon, the zero zone of the container became white with black motorcycles, ceramic pieces and swollen people under the roof of the entrance to protect themselves from the rain and attend the inauguration of the exhibition 'A tiger in myliving room ', by the Little cartoonist.

Under the black sky with clouds appeared the figure of the artist full of color, prepared for his first exhibition in Malaga: "It is the first time I expose in Malaga and this is my first individual exhibition," says the cartoonist with the reflection of the pointsBlacks of the walls in the brightness of his eyes.

To explain his art, the first thing is to explain his artistic name: «Little comes from that I have always liked not to say goodbye to the child that I am or consider an adult. It is the way of being of a big child and a small adult, and I like to play between those two worlds ».

"Little comes from the fact that I have always liked not to say goodbye to the child that I am or consider an adult"

'A tiger in my living room' is a peculiar work, fun and with children's touches that, as expresses the artist, composes the reflection of his own experiences: «I use drawing to express my emotions. They are always linked to my experiences.Just these drawings are what I have lived in the last two years, since the pandemic began until today. There has been a personal and work catharsis in my life and I have reflected it through drawing ».

The title of the exhibition, which in principle makes you ask if the artist will reflect a scene of the movie 'Jumanji' turning part of his house into a jungle, has nothing to do with that, but with a feeling that quickly connects anyone to anyoneWith the work: the madness of which the last two years have been bathed.«'A tiger in my living room' means when something breaks your daily life, your inner world and your calm, and suddenly you have to tame a beast with which you did not count and start from scratch. The overcoming of these problems, the experiences, the new places, right there is my work.It has helped me to channel my life, ”says the author.

Black and black

The red, yellow and green colors of Little's clothing make it part of the exhibition, making it a difficult point to lose sight of the black and white walls."I am a colorful person to the death, very vitalist," says the cartoonist.

How is it possible then that in his work he prevails black and white, except some colors in the vases? The answer comes out of his mouth as fast as the career of a cheese, or better, of a tiger: «Black and white is simply by simplicity.I try that the fine line communicates an idea in the simplest possible way.It is to remove the ornament of what you want to say and say it.That is why black and white.I started drawing with a pencil and paper, and as a result of that has been my identity sign, my identification seal. There are times that I am evolving in ceramics and adding colors, risking a little ».

The muses of the cartoonist are as many as colors has their scarf, as black motorcycles have the walls of zero space or as exhibitions it has attended key key: «I inspire me from music, theater, dance. For example, many monigotes that are spinning come from contemporary dance.Anyway, that I inspired myself from different arts and all culture in general ».

Having so many cultural passions you can think if the cartoonist develops in other types of discipline.Little's laugh, which has become the main sound during the night of the premiere, sounds again: "I make ceramics and, when I go to discos dance a lot, but I don't know if that is art."

Communicate in a simple way learned it years ago, during his university stage when he studied audiovisual communication at the University of Malaga.«The university gave me that experience of being free, happy, I felt alive. It has given me an incredible vital experience.I am here for how I educated here, how I had fun and had a good time.Knowing key, knowing creative people, in the end nourishes your life.It is not just approve and go to class, which too, but not, ”concludes Little with laughter.

Beginnings

Since those years at the Faculty of Communication he called the heart of Little, so much so that it was one of the creators of the artistic space of the Central Gallery: «I mounted central gallery with a key when I was a student. We set up a team of students. When we graduated, other people were carrying it.I discovered the love of art together here, in my faculty ».

And from that moment on, his life from art did not take off until today.Little roads until this inauguration began by his studies, in the field of communication, as he says: «I have worked in some agencies, I have communicated for artists, and others. But in the end I realized that what I liked was to draw and bet everything for my work leaving all my other works linked to cultural management ».

From there, he began leaving the chrysalide Little, the cartoonist who has taken over January from the zero space of the cultural container.«Five years ago I started teaching my drawings. They called me magazines and started publishing. My first exhibition was made in Madrid, it also makes about five years or so.Not long ago.It has been a very fast and vertiginous race ».

To dedicate himself to art was never a path of Rosas, as the stories of many other known painters over time already show, such as Van Gogh or El Greco and Little knows it well: «Many things are lost.I have sacrificed many weekends and many holidays, but if you want to highlight you have to work hard and make your environment understand what you are fighting and what you want to get ».

But the cartoonist is not only convinced that this is his destinStudents tell them to have fun, to have a good time, to play, to collaborate with other artists. In short, they do everything that when they have a paid job will cost them to do ».And he adds: «When you reach a point where you get certain things you can relax in many others.I am starting to spend more time to my family or friends ».

With a cup in one hand, the cigar in another, the Vice Chancellor for Art and Culture of the University of Malaga, key loure key, appears in the room with her usual smile accompanied by a coat with pink hair. Both share an accomplice smile, from artist to work, only now the artist is key and the work she started is Little, the former student of her.
