Amy Winehouse clothing and memorabilia up for auction for $2 million

From the dress worn by Amy Winehouse at her last concert in Belgrade in 2011, to books, records, bags and objects that belonged to the singer British disappeared ten years ago, will go on sale in California in November.

Auction house Julien's is exhibiting in New York since Monday more than 800 items of clothing, such as dresses, bras, pants, shorts, shoes, underwear, glasses, musical instruments, books and records estimated at “1-2 million dollars” before the auction that will take place in Beverly Hills on November 6 and 7.

“It's hard to organize an auction with the parents of a deceased daughter,” says Martin Nolan, director of the Julien's company, introducing the collection of personal belongings of the British singer, who died on July 23 in London, at 27 years of age, after massive consumption of alcohol.

“The issue has been very sensitive and it has taken time for them to agree to give (the items) after realizing that fans, museums >, collectors from all over the world would want to own these items,” explains Nolan.

According to him, the parents of Amy Winehouse, Mitch and Janis, want, with this sale, to preserve “the inheritance and memory” of their daughter and to collect < b>funds for his foundation to help young people who suffer from drug and alcohol addictions.

The British artist, who won several awards with her album Back to Black in 2006, never hid her personal experiences of dependence on alcohol and drugs in his songs impregnated with jazz and soul.

Her last concert in June 2011 in Belgrade marked her fans when she came out completely drunk on stage and was booed < /b>by an angry audience that partly left the room. The tour was cancelled and Amy Winehouse passed away a month later.

That evening, the singer wore a green and black silk minidress with floral motifs and bamboo designed by her head stylist Naomi Parry . The dress retails for $15,000 to $20,000.

“All the clothes represent Amy, a fantastic songwriter, but also a fashion icon,” says Nolan.

Like other musicians such as Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain, Amy Winehouse is a member of the infamous “27 club″ of deceased artists at 27 years old.
