Running 30 minutes is just as effective as running 60 minutes

A group of scientists from the University of Copenhagen is clear: 30 minutes of cardio (running, cycling, swimming...) are as beneficial as an hour. A conclusion reached after studying a group of healthy men for 11 weeks, but with some overweight problems, who underwent cardiovascular training for one hour a day, some for only 30 minutes. And they all lost body fat, with the particularity that those who did longer sessions did not show additional weight loss compared to the rest.

The study, published in the journal Obesity, also measured its benefits in fighting cholesterol, oxygen absorption and insulin sensitivity. And, once again, the one-hour group had negligible additional results for the investigation.

This is because the metabolism only has a limited amount of adaptive energy to translate into pain into gains (or losses). Then, at a certain point, the ratio of benefits to training time drops and does not add a bonus.

Conclusion? If you don't have time to run or do cardio for an hour a day, 30 minutes is more than enough if you want to burn fat. And be careful with HIIT workouts, because they could cause a drop in your testosterone levels to build muscle and gain endurance.
