Passenger off plane in the United States for not using a face mask requests compensation

United States.- A passenger is suing Southwest Airline for $10 million, alleging that employees yelled at her and threw her off a flight.

Medora Clay Reading, 68, tried to fly from Washington to Palm Beach, in the United States, however, she was taken off the plane with the claim that she was not wearing a face mask.

According to the local outlet NBC News, the woman filed a complaint with the New York district court because her health condition prevented her from wearing the face mask.

According to the lawsuit, Medora has a heart condition, severe hypoglycemia, claustrophobia and blackouts, "disabilities that are triggered by face coverings."

Reading said she told her reservations agent she would need medical attention and paid to sit at the front of the plane, however Southwest Airlines does not assign seats.

As Medora was boarding her flight, a gate attendant told her that Southwest "doesn't care" about her disability, once she was on the plane and pulled her mask down to drink water, a flight attendant told her " yelled" to put the mask back on.

After a verbal argument with the flight attendant, crew members took Medora off the flight, leaving her with an ordeal who ended up "confused, shaking, crying, unable to breathe, through her nose and hyperventilating,"

The lawsuit accuses Southwest of violating Reading's civil rights and obligations to disabled passengers, for which Southwest is asking for $10 million.
