Former Comcar leak protagonist testified before the prosecutor: he denied that the clothes Heber showed were his

The escape that led to the questioning of Luis Alberto Heber, this time as Minister of the Interior, was on August 14 in Unit 4 Santiago Vázquez (former Comcar). Hugo Pereira was recaptured 12 days later at the Las Palmas bar, on 18 de Julio y Gaboto.

The multiple official versions were contradictory. There were contradictions between the minister's own statements and other officials of the Ministry of the Interior, and between the version of that portfolio and the Ministry of Defense.

Prosecutor Ana Vallverdú took a statement from Pereira at the Admission, Diagnosis and Referral Center that works in Unit 1 Punta de Rieles, where he is now housed.

According to VTV Noticias, Pereira said that he "went through a hole of almost 80 centimeters in the first fence and then found another one of almost 40 centimeters in the next fence."

He asked if he was aware of the existence of these holes, he said it was "by chance." Which contradicts the previous version that he provided, in which he said that he knew of the existence of a hole that was made in the fence from the rain, which caused the formation of a ditch.

On Wednesday, at a press conference from the former Comcar, Santiago González, director of Coexistence and Citizen Security, stated that "the hole has been there for a long time and he escaped through that place."

Pereira's lawyer, Anibal Martínez Chaer, was responsible for communicating the previous version that Pereira gave him: "He escaped through a hole that has been there for years." “He had realized that the hole was there,” he assured. And he detailed: "He told me that he escaped through a hole that existed for a long time in the perimeter fabric", that "he crawled through a gutter that also existed for a long time" and "he went through that hole".

That version emerged on Wednesday from Pereira's statement to his lawyer, but González told Underlined that they had the ditch version "several days ago." “It is a very large prison, there was fog. There are things that shouldn't happen but they do happen,” he commented.

Asked if they fixed "the hole" that Pereira said had been there for a long time and through which Pereira would have fled, González replied: "The Ministry of the Interior, when it finds a flaw, fixes it."

The person responsible for communicating the first of several changes in versions regarding the escape was Heber, who published a tweet in which, among other things, he said that Pereira "went out wearing civilian clothes and a backpack to change into, finding the used clothes and the broken wire”. He added: "Everything indicated by the inmate has been verified, so we rule out that he escaped through the door and was not in uniform either." He provided photos of the scene to back up his account.

In his statement to the prosecutor, Pereira said that he had left the clothes "20 meters" from the fence and stated that the clothes that appear in the photos Heber showed "have nothing to do" with the one he left behind. the place.

Regarding the version that his partner gave about him, which indicated that he had escaped with a prison operator's uniform, Pereira did not want to answer. He said he felt "pressured" and refused to talk about it, reported VTV Noticias.

Regarding the reasons for the escape, Pereira confirmed that it was "because he needs health care." In his statement he again demanded medical attention.
